This summer a team from HCC is serving in Costa Rica together with Rice and Beans Ministries – sharing the love of Christ through Food Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and Construction Ministry.
We’re excited that you have the option to, not only go as part of the mission team, but also be part of the mission if you stay in North Texas. Some opportunities include:

Back to school, back-to-school, back 2 school, free uniforms, backpacks, food, fun, face painting at Irving Bible Church.

AUGUST 1 || 10 AM-1 PM || IRVING BIBLE CHURCH

We’re partnering with churches across North Irving to throw a back-to-school party that helps local students start the school year right! Join Irving Bible Church, Hackberry Creek Church, Refuge Church, and Embassy City Church as we come together to help make kids ready and confident when the new school year starts. Families will receive free backpacks, school uniforms, school physicals, eye exams, and prayer. We’ll also have food, music, and fun activities for the whole family!

How can you get involved?

DONATE JUST A BACKPACK

Purchase a new backpack and drop it in the cute bin located in the narthex no later than Friday, July 31. Please don’t put anything in the backpack!

DONATE MONEY FOR A SCHOOL UNIFORM

VOLUNTEER AT THE EVENT

We’d love you to volunteer at the event. We’re looking for people to serve in time slots during the event offering hospitality, prayer, facepainting, overseeing fun activities, and handing out the items that have been donated. ARROW OUTREACH PLAYGROUND FUNDRAISER

During July, Arrow Outreach is raising money to rebuild the playground at the school in Juarez, to be dedicated to the memory of Mark Mitchell, who loved the work of Arrow Outreach and was a volunteer and advocate. With school starting, the playground is wrapped in caution tape and unavailable for play. Click here for details.

4th SUNDAY SHOP AND SHARE

HCC is bringing back an old classic! Sunday Shop and Share helps our neighbors with food and essential items in times of need. Every third Sunday we will distribute a list of needs. It’s easy to help! Just add a few extra items to your shopping cart and bring them to the church the 4th Sunday of every month. Your 4th Sunday Shop and Share will be given to three of our community partners: Irving Cares, BSW Community Clinic, and The Table-Irving.

COMPASSIONATE CRAFTERS
Compassionate Crafters meets the first and third Thursdays of the month from 1-3 p.m. to create handcrafted items for charitable purposes. We have made sensory blankets for dementia patients, baby hats, knitted breast prosthetics, quilts, prayer squares and other items that can be used in outreach. We have sewers, knitters, crocheters and more. If you have a talent you’d like to share or you’d like to join the group, you are welcome. MISSION OF THE MONTH

Irving Cares: Irving Cares is a lifeline for Irving residents in need, providing focused assistance for Irving residents to address a financial crisis.  This might take the form of rent assistance, food assistance, childcare, educational assistance and much more. MANY HELPING HANDS

HCC partners with Many Helping Hands to change the lives of the Irving homeless community, both sheltered and unsheltered, through Christian-based, compassionate, relational and personal service. On the first Thursday of each month our youth & church community volunteer at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Irving, for their Thursday Night Meal service. MISSIONS
HCC has been led to give 19% of its budget towards local, national and world-wide ministries doing work that aligns with the mission of the church. The Missions Ministry Board coordinates this distribution to deserving evangelistic and caring and compassion ministries, in addition to other outreach endeavors with a focus on children, human trafficking, and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. We are guided by our Purpose Statement: Share the word of Jesus Christ with others, grow disciples, and care for the poor and hurting in our world and neighborhoods.

In 2022, we distributed more than $180,600 to 26+ organizations and individuals who work to glorify God and grow His kingdom.

We distribute the funds entrusted to us using the following guidelines:

  • Organization must have a proactively involved Ministry Liaison
  • We aim to split 50%/50% between Presbyterian and non-Presbyterian ministries
  • Reasonable distribution between caring, evangelism/discipleship, and missionary support (approximately 33% each)
  • Reasonable geographic distribution between local/regional, national, and international locations (approximately 50% international includes support of ministries on every continent, except Antarctica)

The HCC Missions Ministry Board also monitors the success and integrity of the missions we support by periodically reviewing an Accountability Form, which reports each ministry’s performance in light of its mission statement, its financial health and integrity, and HCC commitment level. Each Ministry Liaison is responsible for getting the form completed and reporting to the Board regarding the rationale for our ongoing support. The Missions Ministry Board ensures that the various missions are able to give presentations during the “Life and Works of the Church” segment of our weekly worship service.
